You are a flower having a nightmare where you are chased by hummingbirds who want nothing but to drink all your nectar. Failing to escape them will result in your untimely demise. Do you have what it takes to escape the machine learning hummingbirds?!

This is the second prototype game I developed for EECS 499 at the University of Michigan as a research project. The research project was interested in exploring the application of machine learning in game development. As such, I tried to create a playable game centered around machine learning agents. This prototype game is the end result of what I was able to accomplish in little under a semester's worth of research and development.

Install instructions

Windows:

1. Download and unzip the files.
2. Double click to run the 'The Flower's Nightmare.exe'.

Mac OS X:

1. Download and unzip the files.
2. Make sure the game is in an easy to access location.
3. Open the Terminal and type the following commands:
   1. cd
   2. chmod +x Mac_Build.app/Contents/MacOS/*
4. Right click on the app and click 'Open'.
5. Click 'Open' on the pop up screen.

THIS IS EXTREMELY CUTE

Ahem. I love the little hints of history you dropped throughout the story, it makes me want to, like, read a textbook on the history of Natura. Or maybe at least the chapter summaries.

There's lots of stuff we wanna flesh out regarding Natura - our future games will be focusing a lot more on that :)

this game really hit the spot in a way that i can't fully describe. i remember once having a dream that some essential part of me left in a literal way and that i'd never really be whole again, and that impression stuck with me when i woke up. i didn't expect to find anything that actualized that idea, ever.

I don't remember specifically suggesting Moxie any references for characters beyond being specific about the ears but I can say that it's funny seeing Renamon being brought up since they only recently watched Digimon Tamers (which is a great anime btw)
